Pete the Cat Rocking in My School Shoes
We read this book in class on the first day and I had read it previously when I taught 3k. Who doesn't love Pete the Cat? I think this book is a great "first day of school" book whether you read it by itself or with the song to go along, its a great way to get kids pumped about school. I think it could be fun to read and then go on a walk around the school and find all the same places that Pete went, especially for Kindergarteners who are nervous about navigating their new school.
